Volunteers' Code of Conduct
These rules must be followed at all times.
General Conduct
- Follow your Project Supervisor's advice and instructions at all times
- Do not do anything that is likely to give the 360 Trust, or its partners, a bad reputation
- Do not flirt or form physically intimate relationships with other volunteers, project staff or community members
- Never be alone and unsupervised with a child
- Respect the diversity of the volunteer group
- Never participate in bullying or harassment of any kind
- Always be supportive of your fellow volunteers
Cultural
- Act in a responsible and polite manner & follow local laws
- Wear clothes that are culturally acceptable to the community that you will be living and working in
At Work
- Be ready to start and finish work on time
- Always follow the instruction of the project supervisor with regard to what tasks you have to carry out.
- Never do anything that puts yourself or others at risk in any way
At your Accommodation
- Respect the house rules - including curfews, single-gender zones etc.
- Treat all property with respect and leave it as you would like to find it
- Do not invite visitors back without the permission of the team leaders
Away from the Project
- Follow your Project Supervisor's advice about public transport & taxis
- Do not go out or travel alone - do not put yourself at risk
- Do not carry valuables or a lot of money
Alcohol, Drugs and Smoking
- Do not drink alcohol in your workplace, accommodation, or within the community that you are based in
- Do not smoke in the accommodation, and only smoke in areas agreed by the team leader
- Tobacco is the only substance permitted for smoking
- Never take any illegal drugs
Disciplinary Procedure
The Project Supervisor has the right to introduce additional local rules, and impose disciplinary measures which may include curfews or travel restrictions. The 360 Trust reserves the right to remove a participant at any stage of the programme. Any transgression of the safety guidelines & code of conduct may result in a participant being removed from the programme and/or being dealt with by local authorities.
