Application Process Overview
There are a few different stages to the application process, all of which are carefully designed to ensure that they are fully useful, and not overly complex or daunting.
- The first stage is to fill out a simple application form
this gives us some basic information that we need, and also gives the participant a chance to say why they want to be considered for an overseas trip with the 360 Trust. It also includes a statement that must be signed by the participant’s carer or support agency to affirm that the participant will be supported in their application and throughout the period of fundraising, preparation and return from the trip.
- The second stage of the application process is the interview
This has several purposes. It gives the 360 Trust team a chance to meet the applicant and find out more about them and their suitability for a trip; and it gives the participant a chance to find out more about the trip, and whether they feel it is still something they would like to take part in. It is also an opportunity for the participant to expand on various aspects of the application form, including reasons for participating, which can sometimes be hard to express on paper.
- If the participant is accepted onto a trip, then they will have to agree to undergo a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. Please note that disclosure of a criminal record will not count against an application, and a participant should not be put off applying just because they have a previous record. A risk assessment will also be carried out on each participant, to ensure the best placement and team make-up is available.
At all stages of the application process, the carer or support network of the participant will be consulted, and included as preferred by the participant.
