Meet the Team
The interviews and the team Early in February, interviewing took place at The Lighthouse Group (TLG) in Bradford, to identify the team of young people from TLG who are to take part in the first 360 Trust ‘Make a Difference’ trip in October. Five students applied for places on the team, 3 lads and 2 girls, ages 15 and 16 years, and for most of them it was the first interview they had ever done. They all did brilliantly and we were able to give them all a place on the trip, to their absolute delight. Each of these students is at TLG because the mainstream education system has failed them in some way. There are behavioural issues and background family issues that they are having to deal with. One of them lives with foster parents, and another has a Barnado’s support worker. But each of them showed that they want to be on this trip because they want to help others, they want to serve, and they want to experience a different culture, country and way of life. They are also looking to how the trip will change them, and make them more grateful and appreciative of what they have, and more inspired to move forwards in leading a better life. They each have unique skills that they bring to the team, and these became more apparent during the interviews; most importantly, together they make a great team. Next comes the parents and carers evening, some team building sessions, and lots of fundraising. Information on this will start appearing on our website, so keep an eye on this page for updates. It will be great to be able to tell the young people that there are folks around the country supporting them as they prepare for their adventure. |
