Application Process Overview
Applications are made by the young people through social workers/probation officers/care managers etc who are involved in a particular partnership project with the 360 Trust. Please note that we do not take applications directly from individuals but work in conjunction with local agencies. If you would like to explore the possibility of setting up a partnership trip with the 360 Trust please contact us here.
- The application form includes:
- contact details
- a personal statement including why they want to go
- self assessment of talents and abilities before going (they can then compare with after trip, and how they feel they have developed as a person, recognised more gifting and abilities etc.)
- a statement of agreement about the support of the carer, signed by the carer & undersigned by a professional worker involved in the care of the young person
- consent from participant for 360 Trust personnel to have access to information from key people who are currently working with the participant or who have worked with them in the past and also access to files where appropriate.
- NB the applicant may need the support of a carer/worker to fill out application form
- The interview process:
- It covers all aspects of the application form to verify the information given, and fill in gaps where the applicant has struggled to fill out the form in the first place
- The interview is as much an opportunity for the applicant to find out more about realities of the trip, as for us to ascertain the suitability of the applicant
- The discussion at interview will include information about practical aspects of work, as well as covering lifestyle aspects whilst out there (including reference to no smoking, alcohol, or drugs, language, cultural sensitivity re dress code and behavioural issues)
- The interview will also discuss fundraising aspects, and involvement of the applicant in raising their own funds, as well as commitment of the carer/worker to support and assist in this
- There will be frank discussions regarding personal motivation, previous history, potential problems, stress management strategies etc.
- The interview panel will include staff from both the 360 Trust and the partner agency, as well as any other key agencies involved where it is deemed appropriate
As well as the application form and the interview, all potential participants will have to be assessed based on a recent risk assessment completed by social worker; this will reflect their current situation & include self harm, alcohol/drug use, violence, sexual risk to others & risk of offending
